This page explains how to qualify for Bowman classifications (3rd, 2nd, or 1st class) under the Archery GB classification system. These classifications require scores shot under specific conditions — practice scores alone will not count.

Where You Can Shoot for Bowman Classification

Under Shooting Administrative Procedure 7, all Bowman classification scores must be shot:

Under Archery GB Rules of Shooting
At a meeting organised by Archery GB or an affiliated body
At any associated club target day (as defined in Rules of Shooting – Rule 313)

How to Record Your Scores in Golden Records

When you enter a score into Golden Records, the score status determines which classifications you can achieve:

Practice status: Restricts you to Archer tier classifications only — will not count toward Bowman
Club Event status: Counts toward Bowman classifications — use this for organised club shoots that are not formal competitions but are shot following competition rules
Any other status: Will count toward Bowman classifications

Important: To qualify for a Bowman classification, you must set the score status to something other than Practice when entering the score into Golden Records.
