This page explains how to properly record scores so archers can qualify for Bowman classifications (3rd, 2nd, and 1st class) under the current Archery GB system.

Key Requirement: No Practice Scores

Under the new Archery GB classification system, Bowman classifications cannot be achieved using practice scores. All qualifying scores must meet specific shooting conditions.

Where Scores Must Be Shot

To count toward a Bowman classification, scores must be shot:

Under Archery GB Rules of Shooting
At a meeting organized by Archery GB or an affiliated body
At an associated club target day (as defined in Rules of Shooting – Rule 313)

This requirement is set out in Shooting Administrative Procedure 7 (e) (iii).

How to Enter Scores in Golden Records

When entering a score into Golden Records, the score status determines whether it can count toward a Bowman classification:

Do not use "Practice" status — scores marked as Practice will only count toward Archer tier classifications
Use "Club Event" status for organized club shoots that follow competition rules but are not formal competitions
Use any other appropriate status for scores shot at qualifying events

Golden Records will automatically restrict classifications based on the status you select, so choose carefully when entering scores.
