Lookups connect your custom names for rounds, bow classes, and age groups to the official handicap and classification tables used in Great Britain. This ensures that regardless of what names you use locally, the system can still find and display the correct handicap and classification values for scoring and records.

How Lookups Work

When you assign a lookup value to a round, bow class, or age group, you tell the system which entry in the official tables to use for calculations. This connection is essential:

No lookup value set: The system cannot return any handicap or classification values
Wrong lookup value set: The system will return incorrect values

Think of lookups as a translation layer between your local terminology and the official standards.

Practical Example

Suppose you create a round called "Barebow @ 50m on 122cm Face" in your system. This exact name doesn't exist in the official tables, so the system has no way to find matching handicap or classification values.

However, the official tables list this same round as "WA50m (122cm Face)". To solve this:

Open the settings for your round "Barebow @ 50m on 122cm Face"
Assign the lookup value "WA50m (122cm Face)" to it
Save the change

Now the system knows where to look in the official tables and can return the correct handicap and classification values whenever someone shoots your round.
