Adding a Custom Age Group

This page lets you create custom age groups for tracking archer records and classifications. Use it when you need to add a new age category that isn't already in the system.

How to Add a New Age Group

Age Band: Enter the age range for this group (for example, "18-20" or "Under 16"). The system uses this to validate whether an archer's age matches the age group requirements.
Gender: Select Male or Female from the dropdown. Neither Archery GB nor World Archery currently recognize Non-Binary archers as a separate category in their official rules.
Lookup Value: Select the age group name used by the classification system to retrieve official classification data. This must match exactly with the values used in the classification tables. If you choose the wrong lookup value, the system may return incorrect or invalid classification information for archers in this age group.

Working with Non-Binary Archers

If you want to create an age group for Non-Binary archers, you can add a custom group name (for example, "Non-Binary U21"), but you must still assign either Male or Female in the Gender field. Choose the gender that aligns with how you want classifications calculated — this can reflect gender identity rather than biological sex. Golden Records will add full Non-Binary support when the governing bodies update their classification rules.
